During his first few weeks in office, President Joe Biden signed a slew of executive orders. This includes efforts to undo many Trump policies.
And while the former POTUS was bullish on border security, the new administration obviously isn’t as worried about the border situation.
However, one state is pushing back in a big way.
Republicans and Conservatives worry about Biden’s “open border policies,” which will mostly impact southern states.
Texas is on the frontlines when it comes to the border battle — and the state Governor isn’t about to sacrifice his residents’ security.
He has given Texas citizens a promise (via Breitbart):
During his State of the State Address on Monday night, Texas Governor Greg Abbott pledged to ‘fortify’ the state’s border security efforts.
The statement follows actions by the new administration of President Joe Biden to end the construction of border wall systems and related policies.
Abbott specifically cited the government’s “open border policies” and clearly, this is a direct reaction to those policies.
President Biden has already made some big moves concerning America’s southern border.
In his first day in the Oval Office, Biden called for a halt to the border wall construction, which has rubbed many Republicans the wrong way.
But Gov. Abbott isn’t sitting on his laurels:
We already have planes in the air, boots on the ground, boats on the water, and cruisers on the roads.
We must expand our efforts to crack down on human trafficking and drug smuggling in Texas.
State lawmakers have now called to spend nearly $800 million on border security efforts in the next 2 years.
In other words, they’re really taking this issue very seriously. And the state obviously is not a fan of Biden’s policies in this area.
It’s likely that many southern states will keep pushing back against Biden’s more liberal border stance in the coming years.
America’s security will remain a top priority moving forward, no matter what.
